Call To Action: Professional Licensing At Stake

Take action to oppose HB 507

The New Hampshire House of Representatives will vote later this week on House Bill 507, which would eliminate the requirement to hold a New Hampshire professional license to practice any occupation, including real estate.

NHAR strongly opposes HB 507, which, as written, would allow an unlicensed New Hampshire resident to provide services of any profession regulated by the OPLC, as long as the person “prominently” discloses the fact that they are not licensed, and does not advertise or hold themselves out as being licensed. Additionally, the law would allow a licensee from another state to practice in New Hampshire without a New Hampshire license, and the out-of-state licensee would not be compelled to disclose to consumers that they are not licensed in New Hampshire.

In a 10-10 vote, the House Executive Department and Administrative Committee deadlocked on making a recommendation to the full House of Representatives.
