OBJECTIVES
NH's governmental policies and actions directly influence the transfer and sale of real properties. One of the objectives of NHCIBOR is to keep members informed about governmental issues related to commercial real estate such as, but not limited to zoning, development, construction infrastructure, and economic development.

To accomplish these objectives in conjunction with NHAR, CIBOR has a Governmental Affairs Committee, consisting of realtors who volunteer their time and talents and the knowledge and interest in governmental affairs and public policies that affect commercial real estate as well as economic development. CIBOR's Governmental Affairs Committee utilizes the services of an on-staff Government Affairs Director and engages the services of a lobbyist firm.

FUNCTIONS
Some of the more important committee functions include: monitoring of statewide legislation, keeping the state association directors informed on proposed governmental actions being considered, assist in the drafting of policies and or legislation affecting commercial real estate issues, raising funds for Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC) and Issues Mobilization Committee (IMF).

THE COMMITTEE'S FOCUS HAS BEEN ON A VARIETY OF RECENT ISSUES INCLUDING...
A variety of recent issues that have come to the committee's attention including: real estate transfer tax, workforce housing ("i.e. affordable housing"), land use, health insurance, eminent domain, rent control, tenants in common property ownership.

IMF
The ISSUES MOBILIZATION FUND (IMF) is sustained by personal and corporate contributions and is used to promote public and member support or opposition for critical real estate issues, such as proposed laws or regulations. The major uses for these funds are media relations and various lobbying activities with a strong emphasis on public awareness. IMF funds can only be used for issue advocacy and cannot be used to support or oppose any state or federal candidate.

NH RPAC
